Who do you think deserves to be honoured for their equestrian achievements this year? Nominations for the FEI 2010 awards are now open.
There are five categories — athlete of the year; rising star, for a rider aged 14-21; development, for a project, individual or organisation; against all odds, to celebrate a disabled rider or an individual; and the groom of the year award.
The inaugural awards last November attracted more than 1,200 nominations. Winners included event rider and H&H blogger Alex Hua Tian (rising star) and showjumper Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum , who was named athlete of the year.
“Last year’s response to the FEI’s call for nominations proved that the equestrian world is eager to applaud those people whose contribution to our sport is exceptional,” said FEI secretary-general Alex McLin.
The awards will be judged by a panel chaired by Princess Haya and the ceremony will take place during the FEI general assembly in Chinese Taipei in November.
• Nominations close on 30 August. All members of the equestrian community can vote at www.feiawards.org
