Take part in an endurance ride and raise money for Team GB

Endurance GB (EGB) has set up a series of non-competitive rides to help fund Team GB at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Kentucky.

EGB hopes to raise £120,000 to fund their riders at WEG (25 September-10 October).

More than 23 rides are being held throughout the country between now and August, and are open to anyone wanting to experience endurance riding.

The Kentucky Rides have been organised by regional Endurance GB groups, covering distances from 10 to 25 miles, to suit all levels of experience.

All are open to non-members. Riders can take part either for pleasure or as preparation for the competition season ahead.

“We have a really talented pool of riders and hope to be sending a strong team to Kentucky,” said EGB chairman Jo Claridge.

“These rides are an excellent way for those interested in endurance riding to get a taste of what is involved, or just enjoy beautiful countryside while raising valuable funds to support our international squad.”

Meanwhile, EGB senior squad member 52-year-old Tricia Hirst from Meifod in Powys is taking part in a marathon to help boost the fund.

Ms Hirst is training for the 56-mile Comrades Marathon in South Africa in May to raise funds. She hopes to qualify with her part-bred Arab Vlacq Abbattarik.
