British Equestrian Federation up for UK Coaching award

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has been shortlisted for a UK coaching award that will be announced at an awards ceremony in London later today (8 December).

The BEF is one of three finalists up for the Governing Body of the Year award in the UK Coaching Awards 2009.

The federation is up against the Rugby Football Union and British Swimming

“We’re committed to creating a coaching system that delivers the right coach to the right place at the right time, for the needs of every rider at every stage of their development,” said

Suzanne Genery, BEF’s head of sports development.

The awards are run by Sports Coach UK and honour the success of coaches and coaching organisations over past 12 months.

The award will go to to a governing body that has made a significant contribution and impact on the development of a coaching system and individual coaches across the UK.

Andrew Finding, the chief executive of the BEF added: “I am delighted that our work in coaching has been recognised in this way, but it could not have happened without the dedication of Colin Wilson and Suzanne Genery who have provided the leadership in coaching within our federation.

“I want also to pay tribute to the leaders in the 16 member body organisations that make up our federation – these are the people who have made it happen on the ground’.
