Horse killed and driver injured in Shropshire road accident

A horse has been killed and a driver was hurt in a road accident on Wednesday morning (15 November) in Shropshire.
The crash happened 7.45am on the A458 Shrewsbury to Welshpool road at Ford.
The incident caused road chaos and held up traffic during rush hour.
The road was closed by police but reopened by 9am.
The driver, a man in his 60s who was in a Ford Focus, suffered neck injures.
He was immobilized on spinal board and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service told local press: “We sent one ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
“The extent of their injuries are unknown at present, but sadly the horse died.”
