South Somerset riding guide launched

Somerset Tourism Partnership has launched a riding holiday and hacking guide, featuring six rides across the south of the county, ranging from four to 19 miles.
The circular routes, the majority of which start and finish at horse friendly pubs, take in a variety of landscapes and the guide is available to download from www.visitsomerset.co.uk or as a hard copy booklet from tourist information centres in South Somerset.
The booklet also includes information on horse-friendly accommodation, like B&Bs, campsites and self-catering cottages that offer stables and grazing and other useful information, such as lists of equine suppliers and events, vets, farriers and riding schools.
David Mccubbin from the Somerset Tourism Partnership, said: “The aim of the guide is to take the hassle out of planning a horse riding holiday in Somerset.
"The guide includes all the information you would need to organise a weekend or a week riding in the county — from where to stay and where to park your horsebox, to detailed riding routes and of course great pubs where you can enjoy a well earned lunch.”
The routes are as follows:
Corton Denham Ridge Ride — short ride on enclosed tracks, open fields and quiet roads
Limington Level Loop — 13-mile level ride along bridleways and country roads
Neroche/Staple Fitzpaine Herepath — ride through Neroche Forest and surroundings
Poyntington Hill Ridge Ride — ride following tracks, fields and roads with stunning views
Wambrook Wander — 11-mile ride around picturesque village of Wambrook
Willows and Wetlands Ride — 19 miles along ancient droves, bridleways and quiet roads
