Fans of interior designer and television personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen are in for a treat if they visit Cheltenham's Countryside Raceday later this month.

One of Cheltenham racecourse's most prominent and traditional boxes, A11, has undergone a complete makeover by the Changing Rooms designer, in aid of charity.

"I was delighted to be invited to redecorate the box," said Laurence.

"This spectacular transformation will have a 'My Fair Lady' feel featuring much of the new Cecil Beaton fabric range — who has always been a design icon to me. It will be decorated in a pretty pale pink and white modern Edwardian style, to emulate the original period, with a few of my unique twists."

Laurence has been working on the makeover since June and the "Beaton-esque" boudoir will be unveiled at Cheltenham's Countryside Raceday, on Friday 13 November.

The makeover will raise funds for the Spinal Injuries Association and the Countryside Alliance (CA), two charities close to Laurence's heart.

"We thought it would be nice to something fun and interesting, and might attract a different crowd to the normal racegoers," said CA events manager Lady Emma Mancroft. "We hope to have lots of famous faces there on the day and are thrilled at the support Mr Llewellyn-Bowen is giving us the CA."

The box will raise money for the two charities on the opening day, and through future sales of tickets to the box.

"It looks fantastic, it is striking and attractive and fits well with the racecourse. It is terrific for Cheltenham and we hope it will raise funds for years to come," said racecourse managing director Edward Gillespie.

Tickets to the box on Countryside Day cost £125 including champagne reception, buffet lunch and tea, tel: 01672571710
