It's nice to have a quiet week every now and then to catch up on things that you wouldn't normally have time to do.
The most exciting piece of news is that, after two years and eight months, I have finally passed my driving test and for the record I passed first time (to silence those couple of doubters)!
Having not been that bothered about not having my freedom, I can't get enough of it now. I even get out of bed in the morning with an extra skip in my step (quite a small skip) because I know I'll be driving to the yard myself!
I normally have so much to write about I have to omit or edit out a couple of details. So this quiet week is a good time to tell you that a couple of weeks ago I was invited to the BBC Bush House Studios to talk to the China World Service about my British public school upbringing!
My mother's an avid listener when she's in China and so fairly assumed that it would be a radio broadcast. However, on turning up, Tianshu Carter, the presenter, casually dropped into the introductions that it would be a video broadcast on the internet.
Luckily, I'd been in a meeting in the morning and so hadn't turned up in a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops (heat wave)! Anyway the interview is now up on the BBC China website and Tianshu is keen to do a follow-up at one of my upcoming competitions.
The horses have just been ticking over looking forward to Aston-le-Walls, where I have Chico and Magenta in the advanced, and possibly (if I get in as I'm a reserve) the Hickstead eventing grand prix tomorrow. So I hope next week should be more interesting!
