Vet reprimanded for falsifying horse passport

A North Wales vet has been reprimanded by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) for falsifying a horse passport.
At a disciplinary hearing on 18 June, the RCVS was told that Eleri Wyn Jones, 25, had been working at The Veterinary Practice, Dolgellau, near Gwynedd, for a year when she signed gelding Aberhosan Bobby’s passport.
Ms Jones, who had been out of Liverpool University for a year, did not know if an equine flu jab had been administered, but signed the passport stating the vaccination had been given on 30 September 2007.
Graeme McPherson QC, representing Ms Jones, said it was a fateful misjudgement on a single occasion and that Ms Jones had suffered from a lack of guidance at the practice.
Earlier this year, Iwan Wyn Parry, vet practice principal, received a one-month suspension from the veterinary register for false certification of an equine passport.
Both Ms Jones and Mr Parry failed to return H&H’s calls.
