Racehorse cut out of horsebox after jumping internal partition

A racehorse had to be cut out of a horsebox on Monday (29 June) after jumping through the internal partition.
Trade Price, trained by Carluke-based Ian Semple, was travelling back from Musselburgh racecourse late on Monday night when he tried to get into the driver’s cab.
The racehorse got stuck and the driver pulled over on the M8 near Hermiston Gait.
Two fire engines attended the scene and firefighters had to cut away the partition to release the horse.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders fire and rescue told H&H: “We received a call at 11.18pm reporting a horse trapped in a horsebox on the Edinburgh City bypass.
“Two fire engines attended and found horse trapped in the rear partition. They awaited a vet, who sedated the horse before using hand tools and a reciprocal power saw to free him.”
Trade Price escaped with just a few cuts and scrapes.
"It does look like he made a bold bid for freedom,” said Mr Semple.
Trade Price had earlier finished third in the final race at Musselburgh at 20-1, the first time he had been placed in a race.
The three-year-old colt has since been gelded in an attempt to calm him down. He had recently become hard to control at the racecourse.
