Miss England finalist to host charity equestrian events

Miss England finalist Charlotte Packham is hoping to raise money for charity by holding two fundraising equestrian events this month.

Twenty-two-year-old Charlotte is organising an unaffiliated show, while her boyfriend, show jumper Ben Dalton, will host a jumping clinic.

Charlotte, who breeds horses, can no longer ride regularly after being involved in a car accident a couple of years ago. She used to show jump.

She qualified for Miss England through a modelling agency and then got through via a public vote.

After fighting off competition from 60 other Miss England hopefuls in the semi finals last month Charlotte has made it through to the top 12.

The winner of Miss England will go through to the Miss World finals.

As part of the challenge of being a finalist Charlotte must raise money for charity.

“I can still ride for about ten minutes so I will be sending in a DVD of me riding for my talent. We also have to make an eco-friendly 70s style outfit and raise as much money as possible for charity,” said Charlotte.

“I am raising money for three charities including The National Autistic Society, Variety Club childrens charity and BEAT (Beat eating disorders).”

Charlotte is organising an unaffiliated show, Including pairs classes, ride and run and puissance, at Duckhurst Farm, Staplehurst, Kent on Sunday (5 July), with cash prizes and vouchers for the winners.

And on Sunday 12th July Ben Dalton is hosting a show jumping clinic again at Duckhurst Farm.

All ages and abilities of horse and rider are welcome and clinics will be running throughout the day in small groups of no more than five, costing £25 per horse/pony.
