Lee Pearson to attend sponsored charity donkeython

British Paralympian Lee Pearson is set to attend his first public event as patron of a donkey-riding therapy charity.
Lee will visit The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) Sponsored Donkeython this weekend.
The event takes place at the charity’s Leeds Centre near Eccup on Saturday (6 June) to raise funds for the centre.
“When I was about five I couldn’t pedal a bicycle so I started to ride a donkey instead, then I moved on to ponies. So being patron of EST is very close to my heart in many ways,” said Lee.
John Akers, chief executive of EST said: “Lee’s achievements as a para-equestrian are particularly pertinent to the worthwhile work of our charity.
“We hope that he will be the voice of our charity, perhaps share his own experiences and tell other people about the enjoyment and pleasure our charity brings to children with special needs.”
Lee will start the Sponsored Donkeython at 12pm.
Entry to the event is free and children’s attractions will include a bouncy castle, go-karts and a 12ft inflatable fun-slide.
