NORWEGIAN judge Trond Asmyr, 54, has been appointed director of dressage at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
He succeeds Sweden’s Eva Salomon, who resigned in May after six years.
A former director of a Norwegian tour operator, Mr Asmyr has served as vice-president of the Norwegian Equestrian Federation for the past six years. He has judged dressage for 30 years — 15 of those at international level.
FEI sports director David Holmes said: “Trond has a great understanding of the sport and how national federations work.
Mr Asmyr takes up his position on 20 June, at a time of great change for the Olympic sport. A taskforce is currently reviewing major areas of the disclipine, following the enforced resignation of the old dressage committee last November (20 November 2008).
