William Whitaker wins puissance at Royal Windsor Horse Show

Twenty-year-old William Whitaker and Cyber Space are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with over the big red wall and the outdoor class at Royal Windsor was no exception.
The combination, who have known each other for barely six weeks, jumped the sole clear in the third round of the St George of England Puissance in the Castle Arena on Saturday, clearing the bricks at 7ft.

Daniel Neilson (Pikolino), who was riding in his first puissance, and Derek Morton (Teddy Bear), who had returned from competing at Balmoral in Ireland at 3am that morning, shared second place after displacing a brick in the third and final round.
Speedy young Matt Sampson opened the fourth day with a win in the open jumping class riding Chianti Classico — finishing almost 10sec ahead of his nearest rival — while the Land Rover open jumping competition went to Tim Stockdale and Kalico Bay, with Robert Smith and his exciting new prospect Baldourado in the runner-up spot.
Tim Stockdale was later seen trying his hand at TREC in a celebrity pro-am competition organised by the BHS in which competitors such as dressage rider Spencer Wilton and British Open champion Robert Whitaker were seen weaving through bending poles and ducking under raised poles. I’ll save Tim’s blushes, suffice to say I don’t think he’ll be giving up his day job. Dickie Waygood, on the other hand, may have found a new calling...
