Sign up to postcard campaign in support of changes to Animals Act

Visitors to Badminton are invited to sign up to the Country Land and Business Association’s (CLA) postcard campaign in support of changes to the law that would mean horse owners are no longer strictly liable for their animal’s actions.
Defra consultation on changes to the 1971 Animals Act closes on 19 June and the CLA is asking the public to lobby their MPs to support the proposed amendments.
The amendments mean that as long as you have taken all reasonable precautions to prevent your animal causing harm you will not be held liable for its actions.
In the past some equine establishments have found it impossible or very expensive to obtain insurance and others have been the target of spurious personal injury claims because of the way the law was interpreted.
