The trial of a North Wales woman who faces charges of cruelty relating to 69 horses will take place on 28 May at Wrexham Magistrates Court.

Dawn Rose, 49, of Pontfadog near Chirk, denies 21 charges of causing unnecessary suffering by failing to provide an adequate diet or veterinary treatment for her horses.

RSPCA inspectors, working with Wrexham District Council and World Horse Welfare, removed the horses from Ms Rose’s farm in October 2008.

The animals were allegedly emaciated and suffering from rainscald and parasites. Three subsequently had to be put to sleep.
