Madonna is recovering from a fall after her publicist claims the horse she was riding was spooked by paparazzi on Saturday.
The 50-year-old singer was reportedly practicing her jumping at a house of friend and photographer Steven Klein in the Hamptons in New York state when a man jumped out of bushes to photograph her.
The horse shied and Madonna was thrown off. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The singer's representative, Liz Rosenberg, confirmed Madonna was treated and released after suffering minor injuries and bruises.
"The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend," Ms Rosenberg said in a statement to a US magazine.
"Madonna will be having further tests and will continue to remain under observation by doctors."
This is not the first time the “Material Girl” has been injured while enjoying her love of horse riding. She cracked three ribs and broke her hand and collarbone in a fall on her 47th birthday in 2005.
