A bay filly has died after being dumped on a common in Blaenau Gwent last week.
The foal was very thin and barely able to walk, say the RSPCA, and manure and straw were stuck to her legs and abdomen.
A vet gave emergency treatment at Llangynidr Common near Ebbw and the foal was moved to an equine centre but died two days later.
The RSPCA said the foal had a "bleak life" and is appealing for information.
Anyone who may have information about the animalis invited to contact the RSPCA anonymously on 0300 1234 999.
