Equestrian artist heads to Great Leighs for reality TV show

An equestrian artist took her work to Great Leighs racecourse recently to test whether or not she should move back to the UK.

Jane Dunn, who has been living in the Czech Republic for 6 years, is one of a number of British expats who want to move back to the UK who are being filmed for the ITV programme “No Place Like Home”.

But before making their decisions they have been followed around by a camera crew while they investigate where to live, how things have changed and whether they will be able to re-enter the job market.

The film crew trailed Jane at an evening meeting at Great Leighs racecourse in Essex where her work was exposed to potential clientele — including owners, trainers and jockeys.

The filming covered an entire meeting and racegoers were charged with talking frankly on camera about Jane’s work.

Trainer’s wife and assistant Deirdre Johnson, jockeys Darryll Holland and Eddie Ahern and bloodstock agent and Essex Racing Club chairman Barry Root were among those who offered their opinions.

Barry Root said: “I liked Jane’s work and we nearly did a deal on the night. I was quite surprised by her prices — if she’d put another nought on the end no-one would have been taken aback.”

Pippa Cuckson from Great Leights told H&H: “I think she was very brave — it’s a risk to have your work critiqued like that. But her art was very nice quality and people were very complimentary about it.”

The programme will be aired early in the New Year.
