One-eyed Laddy poses to raise horse welfare awareness

Laddy the one-eyed horse has made his public debut, appearing in the new book Equus by photographer Tim Flach.
The ten-year-old Welsh cob lost his right eye as a result of an injury and was taken in by World Horse Welfare (formerly the ILPH) in 2005 when his seriously ill owner could no longer care for him.
And the aim of the photograph is to raise awareness of horse welfare.
Tim said: "The series of shots in which Laddy appears shows how man can affect the horse and the responsibility we have towards their welfare.
"The image is very emotive and raises the question of what happened to Laddy, as well as the important work World Horse Welfare does to look after horses like him."
Laddy, registered name Brimstone The Lad has now been rehomed and has been living in Thetford with Maxine Debenham since this April.
A spokesman for World Horse Welfare said: "Having one eye does not affect Laddy in the slightest. He is an excellent all round riding horse who is good in traffic and loves to jump."
