A post-mortem on Clayton Fredericks' eventer Nullabor, who died at Saumur CCI*** on Saturday, has revealed he broke his neck, as suspected.
The vet confirmed that the 11-year-old had broken his fifth cervical vertebrae.
Nullabor slipped on a galloping stretch of the course, landing awkwardly on his neck, Clayton told H&H.
But on a happier note, Lucinda's ride Mr Alligator, whom she pulled up lame with a suspected fractured stifle at the same event, is now sound.
The Fredericks' vet now thinks he had hit a nerve, causing temporary unsoundness.
