Berkshire art gallery mounts first equestrian exhibition

To coincide with the annual Royal Windsor Horse Show (RWHS), a local gallery is hosting an equestrian exhibition featuring work by members of the Society of Equestrian Artists for the first time.
The J Manley Gallery at 27 Eton High Street, an easy walk from the RWHS, has decided to capitalise on the growing equestrian credentials of the region with a dedicated equestrian exhibition that features the work of several local artists, in assorted media ranging from sculpture to watercolour.
Many artists are internationally renowned such as Neil Cawthorne and Malcolm Coward, and several artists have enjoyed Royal commissions including The Queen, who commissioned exhibitor Lorne McKean to create a sculpture of HRH Prince Philip on his polo pony as a silver wedding anniversary gift.
Malcolm Leach, organiser of the exhibition and owner of J Manley Gallery, said, "It is a wonderful and rare opportunity to have 22 leading, internationally renowned artists from the Society of Equestrian Artists exhibiting in a local gallery. The quality and variety of work submitted by the artists is amazing.
"We had two private viewings to launch the exhibition and they were really successful – the feedback from guests was extremely positive. Most commented on the quality of works on display and the fantastic range of paintings and sculptures that cover almost every aspect of the equestrian world, including – among others – racing, polo, working horses, hunting and, of course, hounds."
