The UK equestrian sponsorship round-up


    • Bishop Burton College has signed a sponsorship deal with event rider Ginnie Turnbull.Leicestershire-based Ginnie, who regularly competes at three and four star, has been presented with a new Hyundai car carrying the college’s logo.

      Ginnie will also display the logo on her horsebox, tack and clothing.

      In return Ginnie will visit the College to work with students and equine academy scholars on a regular basis.

      Her first engagement at the College will be a clinic for students on 24 November followed by a showjumping masterclass with Olympic showjumper Stephen Hadley on 16-17 February, which will be open to the general public.

    • Giltspur Scientific Ltd will sponsor the Ulster Schools Show Jumping competition for a further year.The event is being hosted by Belfast Royal Academy at Knockagh View Equestrian Centre.

      The first round kicked off on 22 October and further dates in November and December are available at www.horseslips.com.

      Based in Ballyclare, Giltspur Scientific Ltd is dedicated to innovating hoof care solutions worldwide.

      Its flexible horseshoe, the HorseSlip, is used to treat a range of hoof conditions and can reduce the pain and damage associated with lameness.

    • Badger Ales celebrates 50 years of race sponsorship at Wincanton Racecourse on 5 November.To commemorate its Golden Anniversary, the Badger Ales team has produced a golden ticket for one lucky racegoer to win their weight in Badger Ales.
    • Sheffield-based show jumper, Matthew Sampson, has secured sponsorship from the Ideal Saddle Company.Liz Leggett, of Ideal Saddles said: “We are delighted to be able to offer support to up and coming young riders like Matthew and wish him every success for the future.”

      The 21-year-old has recently returned to his Yorkshire roots following a successful season on the European circuit.

      He was based in Belgium with Henk Nooren, the legendary Dutch show jumper and trainer who was recently appointed as coach to the French showjumping team.

    • Young carriage driver, Michael Hodgson is now sponsored by bits and leatherwork suppliers Abbey England.Then 16-year-old, based in Cheshire, is taking the driving world by storm with his ponies Brownie and Pumpkin who recently won the open pony pairs at Holker Hall.

      His team of Shetlands, Pumpkin, Blackie and Brownie and Welsh section D Mr D’Arcy are bitted by Abbey England with their British-made quality driving bits.

      Peter Phillips of Abbey England said: “We are always keen to support local talent and Michael is an excellent driver, we are confident he is going to have a fantastic 2012, we will be supporting him every step of the way.”
