Stonar opens its doors to boys

  • Stonar, one of the UK’s leading equestrian schools, will be opening its doors to boys from September 2016.

The independent day and boarding school in Wiltshire, which has traditionally been girls-only, is to become wholly coeducational.

Boys are already accepted from ages three to 10, but from 2015 boys will be able to board from aged eight. The following year they will be able to join the senior school from 11 years old as day pupils or boarders.

Toby Nutt, head of the school, said: “Parents of boys currently in Stonar prep school want their children to continue their education at Stonar, and now we can offer that. Admitting boys to the senior school also provides another choice for boys who are now attending other schools.”

Stonar said it will develop its academic and co-curricular programme to appeal to both girls and boys. The equestrian centre, which is headed by British Eventing (BE) coach and selector Darrell Scaife, is set to introduce a range of new rider development programmes this September.
