Foals on top at Keysoe (2) BEF Futurity

  • On the second of 2 busy days of BEF Futurity evaluations at The College, Keysoe, a total of 5 elite premiums were awarded to foals across the disciplines.

Lynne Crowden’s Supertramp/Sao Paulo dressage filly foal Woodlander Sweet Savannah (pictured) headed the entries with an elite premium of 9.36. She is so far the 4th elite scoring foal for Supertramp of the 2013 Futurity. The evaluators commented on her “light, cadenced and rhythmical trot and her excellent uphill balance, cadence and freedom”.

Sweet Savannah is out of the state premium Hanoverian dam Savannah, who produced 2012 elite colt foal Woodlander Wirginia Plain (now owned by Maria and Michael Eilberg) and the approved stallion Woodlander Rockstar.

Savannah died in November but the stud are expecting 2 embryo transfer foals from her in 2013.

Showjumping colt foal, Cool Klipspringer (Keep Cool II/Glenlara) took an elite premium score of 9.17 for his owner/breeder, Zara Vitry-Trapman.

The evaluators said: “He has a super uphill build with a balanced frame and a good neck set.  He is also rhythmical and balanced in his canter.”

Donnerhalls Daiquiri (Sir Donnerhall/It’s the Business) took a dressage elite premium of 9.16. This filly foal is owned by her breeder Mandy Hall. The evaluators were impressed by her “balanced transitions, good ground cover and overtrack”.

Vin Jones from Preci Spark Event horses left Keysoe with his 3rd elite premium of the 2013 series, courtesy of Tredannick (Esteban/Fleetwater Opposition). This colt foal attained an elite premium of 9.10 in the eventing section.

Kirsty Millard’s eventing sports pony, the colt foal KMD Rialto (Rembrandt DDH/Laithehill Gondolier) took an elite premium of 9.07, impressing with “his harmonious and scopey frame and his good acceleration and uphill balance”.

The Futurity heads to Richmond in North Yorkshire on Tuesday (20th August).
