John Whitaker joins top British stallions at Addington Manor

  • Now in its third year, the Stallion Showcase GB (SSGB) will host dressage, showjumping and eventing stallions at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire this weekend (2-3 February).

On Saturday, a loose jumping competition for three- and four-year-old horses and ponies will be held, offering a £1000 first prize — last year won by Henk Minderman’s Renkum Offender. There is also a demo by the Olympian John Whitaker MBE (pictured right).

Sunday is dedicated to dressage stallions, plus features a new dressage to music competition with a £500 winners’ pot and extra prize money to each category winner and best British-bred. Both competitions are open to all mares, geldings and stallions.

Organiser Shirley Light said: “In the UK we have some of the best horse and pony stallions standing for all disciplines, let’s use them. Breed British, breed proud!”

Stables will be open to the public on both days and the SSGB silent auction for Help For Heroes will be running again this year — aiming to top last year’s takings of over £10,000.

Tickets (£10 for one day, £16 for both) can be booked on www.stallionshowcasegb.co.uk or purchased on the door.
