Boost for British breeding

  • A strong British team has been selected for this year’s World Breeding Championships at Zangersheide Stud, Belgium, from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 September.

Guy Williams will be the busiest rider with four rides. These include three of Brendon Stud’s stallions — the home-bred Hamilton Tropics, the 2003 Horse & Hound Foxhunter champion, Unbelievable Darco (pictured) and the eight-year-old Nederland F.

Guy’s other ride will be the seven-year-old stallion, Titus Van Euverbraeke, on whom he has enjoyed much success this season.

British breeding is featured strongly, with Laura Renwick, William Funnell and Simon Davies selected in the six-year-old section on Carnaval Dance, Billy Autumn and Croft First Love.

    The full team is:

5-y-o: Guy Williams (Hamilton Tropics); Ellen Whitaker (Krishna De Sisse); Ben Dunning (Mersley Mon Capatain); Simon Davies (Bajan Blue).

6-y-o: Laura Renwick (Carnaval Dance); Simon Davies (Croft First Love); William Funnell (Billy Autumn); Guy Williams (Unbelievable Darco).

7-y-o: Guy Williams (Titus Van Euverbraeke); Ellen Whitaker (Locarno); John Renwick (Coeur); William Funnell (Tibor).

8-y-o stallion: Guy Williams (Nederland F).
