For a few weeks Sienna has looked to be moving slightly stiffly behind, initially I put this down to a need for proper work rather than just slobbing round the field.
Last week I wondered whether I could feel faint heat in a very localised spot on the inside of her hock. I had her worked lightly for a couple of days with no change. I then gave her a couple of days off & gace her bute, still no change.
She's not lame or unhappy, in fact the issue is partly that we is charging around the field with her mates.
I am thinking that it is a mild sprain or strain and that if it was serious she would be lame or discernablly sore, she's neither.
Anyone have any suggestions/diagnosis. I suppose that she may be forming a spavin or similar, but I would be suprised she has very strong hocks & apart fom being fat, has never worked particularly hard.
Either way I would welcome suggestions about what this actually might be and yes I will get the vet, though not unless there is no improvement for a while I think. IN the meantime she's coming in for abit to rest the hock - I know she'll potentially stiffen & swell up, but thay may give me a btter idea what I'm dealing with.
