Default More hormonal mare questions

I am a bit worried about my mare and am hoping for some advice. In May when she first came in season, she was so tight over her back and "holding" that one judge thought she was lame. The vet came out and agreed that it was hormonal, her udders were swollen and painful and he gave her a course of Regumate. She has been better to ride, but for the past few days her teats have been dripping and they are still swollen. Does anyone have any experience of this, she is not in foal and hasnt had one to my knowledge (although it is a possibility when younger). She is now 8. I will speak to my vet again tomorrow, just wondered if anyone else had any experience with this?

Default Re: More hormonal mare questions

Hi G... I would be tempted to get her ovaries scanned to see what is going on in there. It could be that there is something a bit unusual happening which can be very easily treated Worried1's gorgeous girl Diva had her ovaries scanned and had one smaller than another (I think... could be worth PMing her as there were a few tests done).

Fingers crossed you can get to the bottom of it but it sounds as though the Regumate is working if she is better to ride
