Default Danilon - Pain relief time

Does anyone know how long the pain relief lasts with one sachet of Danilon e.g 8 hours, 12 hours etc.

Horse is currently on 2 a day for 5 days. First one administered about 6.45am - 7am and the second around 6pm. No signs of any discomfort at all before each sachet is given, although swelling is still there, she does seem very comfortable.

Im just curious really to how long it lasts or takes to wear off.

Thanks in advance

Thank AmyMay. Is that clear the system of the drug or one sachet gives 2 days of pain relief?

What I am looking for is how long the pain relief lasts. If it is 2 days then surely you would only give 1 sachet every 2 days if you get what I mean.

No, I meant that once you stop giving it it takes 2 days to clear the system.

I've always thought of it a bit like asprin.

It is an anti-inflamatory which gives pain relief - so it depends on the severity of the inflamation I would have thought.

It depends on the size of the horse and the severity of the pain. My 16.2hh oldster used to take it for arthritis. As he got progressively worse he went from one every two days to one every day. If I gave him a sachet at night time and rode him in the morning around 12 hours later he was ok, but if I rode him about 18 hours later I could tell he needed another one.

I asked my vet and she said there can still be some residual pain relief for up to 24 hours, depending on how much was given, severity of pain etc.
