Got both types saddles. Freeform is sheepskin base, freeform is synthetic netting. They both need a decent pad with spine clearance.

I use an Equitex pad and cannot fault it.

Equitex/Haf/Thinline/Suber.

A Suber pad? They give good weight distribution etc but bulk the saddle up and can make it unstable. I found it made my saddle slide terribly.
