    Default do you wet your horses feed

    hi ..i have always wet my horses feed in winter ..but this summer he as only been having top spec lite on its own.. didnt really think i should have to wet as is similar to small nuts . but someone mentioned should always wet as there is a chance of choke .. what do you do ?

    My horses are fed soaked oats and soaked sugar beet with oil and vinegar so they have pretty damp food any way. In the past they were just fed straight, dry oats with no ill effects.

    Always wet it, just been something i have always done.

    Through the winter he has sugar beet so use that instea of water.

    Ever since my pony had choke I've soaked her hi-fi and nuts, don't ever want to go through that again

    yeah i wet my horse's feed, seems to make it easier to eat

    yes always, if he doesnt have sugar beet then he has water, he rushes his food sometimes so he would be more prone to getting choke, especially if it was dry

    mine have sugarbeet all year round so feed it wet anyway, if they didnt have the sugarbeet I would always wet it no matter how smaller amount it is.

    I Always wet Buzz's feed down, he doesn't like sugar beet so i just stick it under the tap for a few seconds

    I do wet/damp feeds all year round to reduce the risk of choke. I cringe when people feed dry forage.
