firstly my fresian has got mites in his feathers so have been treating it with some special medicated shampoo and rosemary and sulphur cream applied 2 times a week this seems to be helping and is improving slowly.
he's also been itching his neck leaving him with only half a mane and scabby, after searching on the forum and the internet about mites i thought that maybe he has them in his mane causing him to rub, soo i washed it with the medicated shampoo and applied the rosemary and sulphur cream.
well a couple days later he has come up with an allergic reaction with alot of heat, lumps and scabs on his neck and is very tender to touch. so i washed the stuff off with cool water and the medicated shampoo from the vets to help get rid off the sulphur cream and applied msm ointment to help.
its only been a couple of days but its not really improved i am going to call the vet as might need anitibiotics but was wondering if any one else might of had this problem before??

any info greatly appreciated
thanks jemma

Regularly - my lad is allergic to the most stupid things but his rash comes up alot quicker than that - within 24hrs usually
Washed him the other week in some Tesco's own shampoo that he's been fine for ages with - next evening he was covered in urticaria - bathed again in another shampoo I know he's fine with and smeared dermoline over worst affected areas after running cold hose over it for ages (chilly night too poor boy) - rash went away
I have in the past not got there quick enough and he then has to have an IM steroid injection from the vet (anti histamines aren't strong enough) and, if he's broken the skin itching, a course of anti bios
Best thing I've found if it happens it to wash immediately in baby/hypo allergenic shampoo and dermoline it or if he 's wooly, clipping him out first then bathing

have you tried tea tree or aloe vera shampoo that will help sooth it as well!
