Ok - what are the symptoms? We need to know ALL symptoms, time scale, exercise, feed and what exactly did the vet say about it.

My horse had a virus twice last year and had to have 3/4 weeks complete rest each time - he was as right as rain after that.
However due to the very low cell count in the blood tests both times, I was advised to try Red Cell supplement and have kept him on it ever since. This year we got by without any problems at all!
Hope yours recovers quickly.

well, he didnt feel 100% and jumping wise he was putting a lot more "hurdling" effort into his jumps (1.20 course) which he used to do last year. That was all the symptoms really, apart from getting tired near the end of a xc course (which I thought was acceptable given length of course )
dunno, he just didnt feel "right" to me - very sublte and hard to tell as Merlin keeps going no matter what

oh and we jumped last friday night and started his holiday early last sat
he had been competing at novice eventing. Fed what he has normally been fed all year.
Vet said basically that he had/has a low grade virus which is so low that just rest will help; which was what I was going to do anyway. no meds etc.

Maybe a holiday is just the tonic for Merlin then Did the vet take any boods? As Ex-Racers said, Red Cell is an excellent pick me up for lethargic neds, as also is Equivite as a broad spectrum vit/min suppliment.

Vet took bloods but they got "lost" on way to lab but they showed a slight increase in white blood cells (i think ) which made him say low virus... or something like that

give a few weeks rest or maybe just some nice gentle hacks and vi-sorbin is a very good pick me up!
