Banana did a tendon in with his old owners, don't know exactly what happened but he was a polo pony so....
Well, that was years ago and he's 29 now but still going strong, he's kept fit and does 15-20mile pleasure rides very happily.
Popped over some small jumps/ditches/etc at local XC course yesterday which is nothing unusual but he's lame in trot on 'bad tendon' leg today.
Am not overly worried, think he's just tweaked it so will give few days and see how it goes.
My main question is - cooling leg gels/clays and so on.... Which would you recommend for applying after hard(ish) work?

I used a cooling gel on my mares leg when she first did her tendon injury, not sure who makes it but its called cool gel, comes in a black tub with a yellow lid and its green in colour. It cooled her leg down a treat and I used to put in on after cold hosing her. My saddler recommended a cooling clay, not sure what the name was but your local saddlery should be able to help you with that. That said, nothing beats cold hosing.

Cold hosing is by far and away the best cold treatment. I know it takes time but it's worth spending time where tendons are concerned. Keep a close eye on him over the next few weeks, even a very tiny niggly intermittent lameness can indicate damage to the tendon (rather than just a "tweak").

My horse is currently laid up (so to speak!) with a tendon injury and I have recently invested in a Bonner bandage, and I LOVE it!! Its a really easy and effective way to cool the leg and can be used over and over - def recommend

We had a horse laid up this summer with a tendon injury, and would strongly recommend using magnetic brushing boots... so much so that I have put my 27 year old pony on them too!!
Probably better as a prevention thing, but they have really helped aid the recovery of my gelding. They help circulate the blood to the areas it is needed and they do a really good job!! We had the vet out at the end of his 4 months box rest, and he was so concerned that it wasn't healing like it should that he rebooked another scan for ten days later - I tried the boots the following day, and used them every night until his 2nd scan. He then declared him fit to start coming back in to work...could be a fluke, stiffness etc but I'm sure the boots certainly played their part!
