Dogs stomach gurgling
      #3584689 - 10/10/2008 13:29

I have a 5 year old Lhasa Apso. This morning she refused to eat her food and has slept all day, (though she has just been barking at a passerby) and has had a continuous gurgling sound coming from her tummy. She is toileting normally and hasn't been sick. What could this be? Should I take her to the vet this evening?

Does her stomach look swollen or feel harder than normal. If yes get her to the vets, if not see how she is tomorrow morning!!!!

No her tummy feels fine. Ive given her some chicken and rice for tea which she lapped up, the gurgling has stopped and she is playing so thats a relief. Ill keep an eye on her though.

My jack russel had the same symptons, its a build up of gas in the tummy, it can be lethal in deep chested dogs. Sometimes her tummy is rock hard. Vet has said next time to give her what we humans would use for bloating but of course in alot smaller dose. hope this helps

My whippet had an awful gurgling and rumbling sound a couple of months back. It was so loud that I was really worried!
Someone on here gave me advice and told me to give him a biscuit, so i gave him a digestive Noises stopped instantly!

If she has not eaten....the noise coming from her stomach will be on account of it being empty, it's very natural, just as humans do the same when going long periods without food
