Saddle disappeared...not sure if stolen but.....
      #3507265 - 11/09/2008 21:48

Right i am in a total panic!!!! Recently had a dressage and jumping saddle made and put my lovely Albion in 2nd hand at out local tack shop. Couple of weeks ago i got it out again as still not selling put it back in our tackroom to decide where to sell it. It's there sunday evening, stacked on top of my dr saddle as i only have 2 racks. I didn't ride monday, friend rode 1 of my horses in my jumping saddle which is next to it and 'thinks' it was there but wasn't looking for it so not 100%. Last night i rode and it's gone...right don't panic someone has moved it by accident. YO q's everyone today...no one has seen it/moved it/seen anything!!!!!! Nothing else is missing, some other VERY expensive saddle still there, tack room locked when yard unattended, lock not broken no damage, no windows!!!!!

We had a livery leave on Monday who fell out with everyone...surely she wouldn't have taken it. She doesn't like us but YO's daughter has taught her for years....she left when no1 els on yard but i just don't belive she'd take it...and why that saddle??!! Wouldnt fit her horse...she had a mare and foal at yard and didn't keep anything in there anyway!!!!

So what do i do???? Report it stolen even though no damage or evidence except its gone??!! Ask women if she took it...obviously she wouldnt tell me anyway. Not insured and it's not marked....more bloody fool me.

Sorry about rant but i'm so upset and just do not know what to do!!!!!!!

So sorry to hear that, Personally I would report it stolen even if its not insured as it might turn up if it has been stolen/taken and the police might be able to trace it back to you. I would also question the woman also but try to do it in a discrete way such as 'I seem to have misplaced my Albion saddle which I was trying to sell im just wondering if someone put it with your things by mistake when you moved yards and I was hoping you may have found it when you unpacked' I think you would be able to get a feel if she had taken it just by her reaction and yet you have not made a direct accusation. I would also check your house hold contents insurance as sometimes these cover personal and sports equipment so you never know. Finally just check all the other saddle racks and under saddle covers just in case its been moved god knows why but this often happens at my yard and there are only 3 livery’s!!!

watch eBay and similar sites for it. Report it stolen, cos it has been! Ask the lady so that her answers can be used as evidence if it does later turn out she had it. check any CCTV at yard?

Do you know anyone at her new yard that would be able to snoop for you? Also, haffieliesel rose said it was only a small yard in another post so it may not of had CCTV
Hope you find it!

Shame but it was worth asking ....sometimes peeps dont think of it as its just 'there'....our yard had it and there were sometimes only 4 horses living there.

Its how we caught our naughty livery who was feeding only her horse in the morning leaving the rest to kick their doors whilst she disappeared into the haybarn with a labourer for nookie on the haybales! :-)) great stuff CCTV!

God id be climbing the walls. Our yard sounds much like yours and id never think a saddle would go missing but it so easily could. God i hope you solve the mystery soon and get your bloomin saddle back
Id be tempted to take a wander down to the yard the person who left moved too and have a look for your saddle. Also inform local tack shops incase it gets handed in there for sale
