Dorchester County Show...my report.
      #3490178 - 06/09/2008 15:16

Am totally knackered after very little sleep last night and an early start this morning but that is it now for our shows this year.

Bad start to our day as OH was later with the trailer due to a road closure so we were running REALLY late. As we were stuck in show traffic, for what seemed like a life time, I had excepted the fact I would miss my first class.

We had to be towed by a tractor just to get onto the field and whilst OH battled with being towed by an eejit who broke part of OH's car, my sister and I ran down to the tent to see how they were doing.

Luckily, they were holding back the classesa little because of the mud and delays getting onto the showground. Phew! I had 10 mins before our first class and poor Adina was dragged out and trotted through all the mud down to the ring!

First class was the 3 year old hunter class. It rained nearly the whole time we were in the ring But Adina behaved VERY well. Stood for the judge without rearing; yay! and trotted up really nicely. Much to my shock, she came 2nd.

Went in for the championship class and didn't come anywhere (not that I was expecting to). Again, though, beautifully behaved.

We then had quite a wait for the next class so, instead of battling with the long walk and mud back to the trailer, we hung around. I also thought it would be really good for her as she doesn't stand that well and it is when she is stood, that she rears. However, she relaxed well and munched on the grass and was really, very chilled. So, the aim of my day had been achieved.

Second class; 3 year old competition horse. Once again, very well behaved, even though it was a bigger class and was worried that the longer wait around might set her off.

Much to my pure amazement, she came 1st. Im still in shock TBH. My OH was pleased because she won, in total £65 so he had that for the diesel and trailer hire!

Anyway, we managed to get off the field without being towed and now my tired little pony is happily back out in her field.

Here are some photos-
First class, getting rather wet.

Pulled in first in the second class.

Pretty girlie.

Thanks for looking.

O dear maybe it was the hounds arriving they parked right next to us and my gelding nearly jumped out of the trailer to join them

Are you going along tomorrow?

The OH and the children were meant to be parading the hounds but the Cotley have Kennel cough and another pack had them recently so OH has decided to keep away. So we may go along for a look around.

No I'm not unfotunately. For a start the road past my house is closed due to the iron man so I think its going to take me about three hours of persuading marshalls before I even get to the horses. Last year i camped at the field but don't fancy it in this weather!

Great result - well done! I think your horse is lovely. I like your in hand bridle - I haven't seen one with a rolled leather noseband and brow band before.

Thank you.

Yeah her bridle is nice. I think its Cottage Craft. I bought it on Ebay and it was really rather good value.
