I got an Albion K2 Jump saddle (17.5", wide fit) which was 2nd hand, but looked like new for £650. It's brilliant!

Bates are lovely saddles, but not everything likes the Cair, and the tree shape doesnt fit everything either

get a good recommended saddler out, one who stocks a good variety of saddles, and try them. it's impossible to recommend really because everyone is a different shape and has different preferences. having said which, i tried quite a few and the Ideal saddles were the comfiest for me and fitted my mare well. made-to-measure, your choice of colour, size, type of leather etc etc, less than £1000. well worth the money, lovely saddles.

After 4 mths of trying to find the perfect saddle for my mare & I, i ended up with a berney bros international (google it) compared to my mums k2 its as amazing if not better at the price (600 made to order) Had it 2 weeks and after 6weeks of my mare being out of work & lots of bucking its kept me in!

Thanks everyone. I will of course get a fitter out - trying to get a guy that stocks Ideal as many of you recommend that. All your advice is much appreciated.
