have had to fish a an owl out of one of the troughs before, obviously dumped by fox or other animal (hopefully not my girlie!) as it had bled everywhere first.....not pleasant, one of the ponies tries his hardest to poo in any water we give him, hence having two large buckets, just in case!

I keep finding beetles floating in the water bucket. They are about an inch long and black and I usually manage to fish them out alive and put them somwhere to dry. I guess they must nest in my stable somewhere or its the same one coming back for a dip!

A huge drowned rat is the worst I have ever come across. I have also found a baby bird that fell out of the nest above which I didn't even know was there.

Drowned magpie in the water trough this morning which is annoying as I only cleaned it out and refilled it yesterday!
Its mate was making distress calls in the field so the first place I looked was the water trough. How sad : (

one of those hexagon-shaped ball-things- full of pony nuts - found it floating the next morning, pony must have lobbed it up in air ....nuts had all turned to sludge by the time i found it. nice.
Oooh my boy managed that too - I was very impressed!
Apart from that all I ever find is poo or general dirt (Casper like a bucket to drink from and one which he only uses to wash is face!!)

Found a mouse in there a coupe of times. Aso found a dead mouse very close to my pony's feed bucket once- it had been stomped on -You will NOT steal my food says pony!
TB used to sh*t in he water bucket no matter where I put it in the stabel, mind you she used to push all the bed back up the back wall of the stable too. I sometimes wondered if she hadn't got the broom and swept it up there.....she was an odd one!

Spiders, bugs, hay/ haylage (if its to dry she dunks it), once a rat. In water trough I've found a magpie, baby barn owl and rescued a kestrel once.

We used to have to fish bones out of the water trough on a regular basis - three times a week or so, was a right pain. Think the foxes used to dunk their kills in the trough or something - can't think how we could so regularly get bones in the trough otherwise??

A very flat dead rat as my mare Sasha stamps on them if they get in her stable, find them now and again on the floor, very squashed. But once she must have picked it up and put it in her water bucket for some weird reason.Gross.
