Ola folks
Just very quickly, I have to say that my observations today were that the course was alot tougher than of late. I also liked the fact that one fences didn't become a bogie fences, and casualties came from a variety. Think that is great course building.
In general however, I have seen XC courses becoming more focused on tight twisty sections, and this perhaps is something to be considered with rotational falls. Racing falls never genereally cause serious injury to jockeys, yet XC course builders are making horses jump so slowly over such huge fences, that the accidents are becoming 'normal'. Also, I felt that today, those more 'old school' riders, had their horses fitter, perhaps a sign that they were procuded to do long format, and still uphold that ethic. Others appeared to have their horses at a 'false fitness' level.
I also think that there was some apauling riding - and having the ability to stop some people on the course, should really be done. I think the horse the french chap rode into the quarry as if it was flying off a cliff, should not have been allowed to continue, and the horse is to talented, it deserves a better jockey.
My saddest moment really was Mary Kings fall late on the course. Such a momentary lapse of concentration and she'll no doubt be laughing about it, in the good spirit she has.
I'm off there tomorrow for the sj and horse inspection, so will hopefully have a great time. I am so pleased for Lucy, and hope she can have a good day tomorrow.
That is just my thoughts (I'm no expert either LOL), and I really enjoyed the BBC for putting it on telly - even if it meant I had to go to my mates' as I don't have interactive!!!! Much better that ever before....

Mary King fell? such a shame, i watched at the 2nd jump and she made it look soooo easy!
near the quarry i saw a rider on a chestnut almost squash the audience.. she turned a circle and nearly ran straight into them put pulled away at the last sec.. you should have seen their faces! no harm came, but surely that's not sensible?

Would also liketo say how much I enjoyed the commentary team at the Beeb, and getting riders in to chat was great. Much better than catching them at the end of a round and expecting them to talk!

triple S and h Mary fell at the second to last fence very disappointing for her! I didn't see what happened but I **think** it was a fall at fence 28? Or 27? Two logs that had to be jumped at an angle.
Who was the French rider?? I don't think i saw someone that was really appalling........ Might have been the guy that retired at fence 12 but i'm not sure. Someone enlighten me!!
I'm not going for the showjumping but will be watching on the beeb

What time is SJ on the beeb? I've just got back after a fantastic 2 days at badders! Was disappointed to see my trainer Polly withdraw (though was nervous as hell to see her go!). Thought the course was beautiful except i didn't like the hong kong combination - it just didnt ride well all day, was to trappy but thats just my favouritism for less technical fences. thought the hexagon hedge claimed an awful lot and couldnt really see why? Claytons horse, Nullabor, was clearly wrong a few strides out, just wasnt up for it was he? Shame he fell though!
Had a giggle at Comanche deciding to take up olympic swimming! Was gutted that Mary fell and feeling WFP's disappointment and frustration at that silly run out at the third last! AN didnt get either horse round today...quite young werent they? OT well i just refuse to comment on his obscene riding - i've come to expect it from him now!
I was VERY impressed with a young rider - cant remember her name, not someone i knew, on a chestnut and it was her first time - went clear jumping and did a gorgeous round and finished at that point in 11th. Would love to see her showjump well.
And, well, a badminton that saw andrew hoy, clayton fredericks AND mary king on the floor! Never could have been predicted!
Also liked the increase in seating and food/drink stalls out by the colt pond.
A thoroughly fabulous badminton - its back to being number 1!

Saw that Pippa also fell and what ever his name was having a paddy at the end of his run due to his horse refused a jump, he was wacking his whip & hat on the ground like a mad man...
