How to wean (in difficult circumstances)!?

So, i need to wean Dillon as soon as possible. Doubtful is booked in for her GA and new cast next week, and as a preference the vets have said would like me to have weaned Dillon by that point. He will be just short of 4 1/2 months by that point

I have introduced him to Huey (big bro) twice, 1st time for about an hour yesterday, and then tonight for about 3 hours. He can see Mum from where he is, and i cant move her for obvious reasons, however she is not calling to him at all, happily eating her hay and looking out over the door every so often. Dillon is obviously calling, but getting no response from her (which is nice). Huey is being very good, not even given him a nasty glance, sharing his hay etc and generally being very chilled so not concerned about them having a scrap or anything like that

So, tomorrow I have the morning off and then the afternoon working from home (so i can check regularly), so do I seperate him again, check him through the afternoon, and then if settled leave him with big bro and make the break?

Plan is to move them back up to the place where my 2yr old has been living, and if i can do it when Doubtful is back at the vets then that would be great, as obviously he cant call to her

Does the above sound like it will work? Or any suggestions on a better way to do it in the circumstances? I am open to suggestions!!! Just trying to make it as easy as possible!!
