as alot of you will know we had to get rid of our JRT and GSD about 2 months ago. any way we were taking our new dog (Storm) out for a walk last night and i saw a black and tan GSD (mostly black which Starkey was) and i said to mum thats Starkey- i am fairly certain it was. and that was only around the corner from us but in the distance (if you get what i mean). however i almost started crying because i miss him like hell. but at the same time i am glad that he is in the area because it means that once i am coping with what has happened then i can still see him. but should i be glad that he is back in the area or not?

If it is him, then I would not go and see him for quite a while, it would be upsetting for him and you. Does this mean that he has been rehomed again from when you rehomed him or did you place him with a rescue kennel to be rehomed? Hope you are able to find out for sure if this is him, or if not perhaps you will be able to find where he is.

our dog trainer rehomed him, because he had to go straight away- he was going to go to the MOD but failed the tests, so R- the dog trainer- found a friend of his to take him on. i only saw the dogs back end so i am not 100% sure it was him, but it had medium length hair (we could just see the length from the distance) and a black back.
i would realy like to see him again but i am not sure how i would react. i know its best to leave it for a bit to let my emotions settle down. if it is him though i am sure that we will seehim when we take Storm down the woods for his walks. i supose that if we do see him down the woods then he might try and pull towards me because he recognises me. but i think no matter how long i leave things to settle down then i will still get upset when i see him (or another GSD that looks like him)

I'd leave be and just be pleased that you can see how well he's doing. It'll be too upsetting for you and him.
My friend had to take her GSD x Mastiff back to the rescue where she got him when her marriage broke down and after several more homes he ended back there and we both recognised eachother straight away, I used to go down once a week and walk him. He wasn't the dog I knew and when I left he was clearly distressed it was upsetting for both of us so I stopped going. He's now in a fab home locally and my friend has spoken to his new owner so we know he's ok.
Do you mind me asking why you had to rehome them both?

Personally if I had to rehome a dog i'd be heartbroken if it moved back into the same area and I had to see him all the time. In the case of your GSD it would be of no benefit to him to see you again so I'd leave him well alone for his sake and just be pleased he was rehomed happily if indeed it is him.

he attacked another dog because someone had opened our gate.
just seen R and asked him if starkey was in this area and apparently he isn't. he's based in notts now so that probaly was a similar dog.

Hope you lock your gate now - you wont see your greyhound for dust if you leave the gate open, I had to chase mine all over the estate for about half an hour when she got out once She thought it was a great game though

hes a lazy arse.
sorry i didn't mean to get grumpy, its just that i find that people keep telling me how to look after our dogs. put it this way if the garden wasn't secure enough then we wouldn't have passed the home check.
