We has some very sad news today, a foal that we bred had to be put to sleep at the young age of 6 last Friday (we only found out this tragic news today) http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This is Versace, born in 2002 and who got a 1st Premium from the KWPN judges as a foal. We sold her to a lady in England who was into showjumping. However, Versace was more geared towards dressage, so she went to a lovely new owner who has always kept in touch with us.

Anyway "Molly" as she was known to her owners had turned into a fantastic mare and out of 7 starts last year in dressage she was 1st five times, got a 2nd and 3rd.

Sadly this beautiful mare took a rare skin disorder this year and despite all the specialists attempts she was PTS last Friday due to the side effects of all the drugs that were administered. Despite top care and attention, along with second opinions, it was decided that this was the best solution for her.

We are so sad to hear this news today http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, this mare was only 6 and had such a bright future ahead of her. She meant so so much to her owners and they were looking forward to a very bright future with her as a top class dressage horse.

Anyway these were the pictures taken of her by her owners (their special moments), over the last couple of years, and I hope they do not mind me sharing them with you. The one with the beautiful young child brought me to tears, as it is just such a beautiful moment.

This wonderful mare was by our deceased stallion Geneve, out of our oldest mare, Anja. We always adored this filly, as she has something special about her.

RIP VERSACE, galloping among the meadows in heaven, and all our thoughts and prayers are with her owners at this very tragic time... http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Life can throw some very cruel situations into our paths at times. http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

So sorry to hear this, no wonder you are devastated; it's always so hard when it's something you have brought into this world.
Such a young age, life can be so unfair at times; we must make sure we make the most of the good times.

How sad to read this after looking at the latest foal pics of yours.
The pic of the child and the mare show what a fabulous temperament she had, what a shame nothing could be done.
Sometimes I think some horses are only loaned to us for a short while, but it's so hard to accept this, it always seems to be the special ones that die young. http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What a shame. She was a beautiful mare. Henry is right, it does often seem to be the special ones that die young. I know its little consolation, but at least she had a very happy life and was much loved. So often we don't know what happens to the ones we sell and it can be quite upsetting to find out.

so sorry to hear your bad news, as a breeder myself you never forget them when they move on, and news of this kind is devastating for any horselover/breeder. Verena.

How awful, she was beautiful and obviously cherished. I lost my horse at eight and it is just devastating when they don't have a full life, especially when there are so many mistreated horses where death would be a blessing. Will never understand why the loved and cared for ones are taken. X

It is always worse when they are so young.

Thank you all so very much for your lovely heartfelt thoughts. I will certainly pass them on to the owners. Cxx

RIP, so sorry to hear this and what a shame for the owner, i too would be utterly devestated

Hope Versace enjoys running round the fields in the sky x
