    The past 12 months have been a memorable period in racing.

    AP McCoy’s retirement in April marked the end of two decades at the top for the Irishman, and a packed crowd at Sandown bid farewell to AP as he hung up his boots for a final time.

    Many Clouds provided a poignant win in the Grand National for trainer Oliver Sherwood and jockey Leighton Aspell — the latter of whom was first past the post for the second year running.

    And in the Gold Cup Coneygree became the first novice since 1974 to take the spoils under rising star Nico De Boinville.

    Meanwhile Flat racing was dominated by Golden Horn. Ridden by Frankie Dettori and trained by John Gosden the colt won the Derby, Coral-Eclipse and Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe, picking up a host of accolades and awards during the past couple of months.
