No extra three-star event to replace Blenheim Horse Trials

  • British Eventing will not be holding another CCI*** this year to make up for the loss of Blenheim Horse Trials two weeks ago.

Immediately after the cancellation of Blenheim, British Eventing (BE) told H&H that it was considering a number of options. The possibility of putting on another CCI*** was one of those.

But this week, BE’s international co-ordinator Paul Graham said it was not viable “logistically or financially” to run another event.

“We have 33 horses entered for the four-star at Pau (France, 22-26 October), and a wait-list for Boekelo (Holland, 9-12 October),” he said. “Many people have turned down the chance to go to Kreuth (Germany, 25-28 September), and some have just turned their horses out and are hoping for better luck next year.”
