Eventing Olympic gold medallist Michael Jung is facing three-weeks off riding after breaking his collarbone during a showjumping competition in Germany.
The 32-year-old — who regularly showjumps at grand prix — had the accident while competing at CHI Donaueschingen in southwest Germany (19 September)
Michael fell with his 13-year-old stallion Der Dürer TSF, who was not hurt, in the grand prix qualifier class.
His father Joachim Jung told German press: “The injury is not too bad.
“The collarbone is broken. We were lucky to get an appointment for today — after examining he will be operated.”
Michael was part of the winning German team at last month’s World Equestrian Games. He had to withdraw his top ride La Biosthetique-Sam FBW just days before the competition started due to an inflammation in a hoof.
However, he still went onto win individual silver with the nine-year-old FischerRocana FST.
