Collett untouchable at Tweseldown

  • Young talent Laura Collett unleashed her potential at Tweseldown this weekend, winning the CCI two-star aboard Fernhill Sox.

A foot-perfect cross-country round on Saturday afternoon had already given the pair a convincing lead. A clear in yesterday’s tricky show jumping phase saw her finish exactly 10pen in front of fellow British rider Mark Ford, and take the lion’s share of the £8,000 prize pot.

Mary King and Kings Gem took third place on a score of 54.9pen. King, Collett, Rosanna Crossley and Nicola Tweddle were the only competitors to finish in the top 10 with a double clear.

Collett ended last season on a high, winning both the CCI one-star and the JRN championships at Weston Park in October. And she has been enjoying a run of luck recently; finishing seventh in an intermediate novice at Chatsworth on Fernhill Sox earlier this month as well as winning a novice on Rayef at Moreton Morrell.

Dan Jocelyn from New Zealand took first place in the unaffiliated CIC one-star with Ireland’s Sacha Pemble as runner-up.
