British Showjumping says thanks to Tim Stockdale’s hospital

  • British Showjumping (BS) is to support an additional charity for 2012 – in recognition of the care and treatment received by Tim Stockdale during his stay in hospital.

Tim, 47 (pictured with wife Laura), broke three vertebrae in his neck in a fall from a young horse last October.

He spent eight weeks at the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries in Oswestry, Shrops, before beginning a rehabilitation programme.

Iain Graham, chief executive of BS, said Tim’s experiences at the centre had prompted BS to show its support in a formal way.

Mr Graham said: “The tremendous results they have achieved across sporting related incidents – many of which have been riding-related – have been phenomenal.”

Although the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries is part of an NHS Foundation Trust hospital, the centre is a registered charity and relies heavily on donations to continue its work in both treating and researching spinal injuries.

Mr Graham added: “On behalf of everyone at British Showjumping, I would also like to thank everyone concerned at the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries for getting Tim back on his feet as quickly as they have.”

Tim is hoping to start riding again within the next month.

BS has already donated £500 as a result of the savings made from sending e-cards at Christmas rather than traditional cards through the post.

It has set up an online donation page with JustGiving for those that would like to add their support. To donate, click on the link below.
