British Eventing (BE) competitors in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset will be given the chance to qualify for the first ever Land Rover West Country Challenge this year. The Challenge is specifically for grassroots riders at Intro and Pre-novice levels, and prize money will total £1000 in each section, the most ever awarded at such an event.

All pre-novice and intro sections (including pre-novice regional finals and intro regional finals) held at any BE event in the four counties will act as qualifiers, and any eligible rider with a top 10 placing will earn the chance of a place at the Challenge held at Bricky One Day Event on 24 September. Eligible riders who accumulate the most top 10 placings over this time will have the best chance of competing in the Challenge itself.

The competition has been devised by Michael and Sally Munden, hosts of the popular Bricky Event. Michael Munden said: “This is a welcome opportunity for the many grassroots riders who support our sport in this region to take part in a competition which provides a real aim for the season with good prize money on offer on Challenge day. We are extremely grateful to the Land Rover distributors in the region for their tremendous support to enable us to get the Challenge going.”

Full details of the Challenge Rules will be published in the next edition of the BE magazine.
