Lincolnshire Horse Trials attracts top names despite heavy weather
20 March, 2008
Britain's Nicola Wilson and New Zealand's Caroline Powell staked early claims for team places by scoring one-twos in open intermediate (OI) sections at a wet and windy Lincolnshire Horse Trials (14-16 March).
Veteran campaigner Lenamore cruised to victory for Caroline in OI section S, ahead of stable-mate Got The Look. She also took third place in OI section T with Mac Macdonald.
Tamarillo finished seventh behind Caroline on his first run for nearly a year, while William Fox-Pitt was also third on Parkmore Ed in OI section V. In this section, Nicola Wilson (née Tweddle) grabbed the top two spots with Opposition Buzz and Don't Underestimate.
Junior European Champion Laura Collett, 18, was over seven penalties clear of the field in the under-21 OI class with her Gatcombe CIC** winner Rayef.
Vet Caroline Edwards took the final open intermediate section with her own Sandy Lane II, ahead of Oliver Townend riding Coup De Coeur.
